Michael Cade – Olathe Murderer, Kidnapper & Rapist

michael cade, olathe kansas murder, kidnapping and rapistThe Investigation Discovery Channel is featuring this case on an episode of Ice Cold Killers to air this Tuesday, Feb 23, 2016 at 7pm CT.

Michael Cade, 21 at the time, turned the small town of Olathe, Kansas upside down with his actions the night of January 28th, 1983.

He’s a monster. – Paul Duffield

Cade has said he randomly selected John and Carole Duffield’s Olathe home to break into and reign terror on. He entered the home with a two-pound hammer, beating 15 year-old Paul Duffield and leaving him for dead, before moving on to his next child victim. He beat 12 year-old Janelle to death with the same hammer. Kelly, the Duffield’s 17 year-old daughter was forced from the house by Cade. Her body was found 10 days later at Frisco Lake. She had been raped, beaten and left to die alone, in a drainage ditch.

Cade was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and one count each of rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary and robbery.

Under today’s laws, Cade would be eligible for the death penalty. However, with no death penalty in Kansas at the time, he was sentenced to life and eligible for parole. His first opportunity came in 1998 and again in 2008. Denied both times, with campaigns against his release being led by the Duffield family. His next chance happens in 2018.

John Duffield passed in 1998 and Carole in 2011. All deceased members of the Duffields are laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe, KS.

On Friday January 9, 2015 four teens; Lorondo Patterson III, Deanthony Wiley, Nicquan Midgyett, Hakeem Malik, from KCMO targeted She’s a Pistol, a women focused gun shop, on Nieman Road in Shawnee, KS. For what ended up to be an attempted robbery gone horrible, the outcome was exactly what you would believe it would be when you decide to rob a gun store. The occupants will be armed, force is to be expected and that’s exactly what three teens got. A gunfight. The owners, Becky and Jon Bieker, were inside. Only the people inside know what happened next, but the outcome was Jon was killed and three suspects were wounded.

Working to live the American Dream should never mean you die defending it, but that’s exactly what Jon did. Four thugs wanted what these two had, and they thought they would just take it from them. It’s a real shame I am not writing about the dead thugs and instead have to write about Jon’s legacy. Only the Good Die Young as they say.

Being a small business owner, I am truly, heartfelt disgusted by what our society allows to happen. I stalked Lorondo Patterson’s Facebook page before it was pulled. He had over 1,900 Friends that saw his posts. Posts about him going to take what ever he wanted. Openly claiming an affiliation to the Bloods gang, but still hung with Crips… (I can’t make this up.) NOT ONE of those 1,900 thought what he was doing warranted a second look. This is WRONG. All of these drive-by shootings that are killing these babies and young kids. There’s a shitload of people who know exactly who did it, but they won’t speak a word. Well, as long as that attitude continues, life will only get FAR worse for those living it and as for the rest of us, you can find us in the renewal and new registration lines for CCW’s.

I am sorry Jon and Becky, you didn’t deserve this. Kansas City let you down.
