A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon…allegedly, Carol Thomas was hit, shoved into the trunk of a red Grand Am, removed upon arriving at a field and shot twice and “flung”.
James Reardon, 21, was charged with first degree murder, armed criminal action and kidnapping charges; Erik Zimmerman, 29 of Excelsior Springs; and Jennifer Saling, 21 of Holt were charged with second degree murder, armed criminal action and felony kidnapping.
Full story from Fox 4 here. Seems like quite the night. Not sure what the person who delivered the gas was thinking, but…

Bob Berdella

Bob Berdella

Robert Berdella (January 31, 1949 – October 8, 1992) was an American serial killer in Kansas City, Missouri who raped, tortured and killed at least six men between 1984 and 1987.

I was only an early teen when the news reported a man had escaped Bob’s home nude by jumping through a second floor window. But I remember this story vividly. Maybe because we didn’t have the internet yet, and we were unable to find out just what freaks are in the world so easily without it. This story was weird when it came out.

Bob ran a novelty shop called Bob’s Bizarre Bazaar in Westport that catered to “occult-type” tastes. I am guessing he sold sex toys and such. Now we call that Precilla’s Cerrilla’s and there’s one on every corner in KCMO and Independence. But back then, it had mystique.

Bob evidently would simply put the dismembered bodies in the trash, except for a few parts left behind that the police would find buried in his yard and in the walls of his house. The house was eventually razed and the lot still sits vacant. It would also become known that he kept extensive diaries and Poloroids documenting his activities.

Bob died in prison in 1992 of a heart attack.

Edwin R. Hall

Hall, Edwin R - Front

Edwin Roy “Jack” Hall is hopefully getting his in El Dorado CF-Central Prison. You may recall him as the indigent that kidnapped a young teenager girl from the Overland Park Target by Oak Park Mall. The story going around was Hall abducted Kelsey Smith as she was walking to her car after purchasing a 6-month anniversary present for her boyfriend. Target surveillance video caught some of the abduction in and out of frame. Kelsey, who was known to answer her cell wasn’t. Her car was found in the Macy’s parking lot around 9 pm June 2, 2007 with her purse and wallet but without Kelsey.

June 6, 2007 Kelsey’s body was found near Longview Lake in southern Jackson County. Searchers were aided by a cell phone ping that hit a nearby tower on June 2. Later that evening, Hall was arrested and charged on June 7, 2007 with premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping. Hall was arraigned via video link and bond was set at $5,000,000. Further investigation led to strangulation as cause of death. Kelsey’s missing persons story was featured on America’s Most Wanted.

Because Hall is a pussy and couldn’t see going through what he put Kelsey through, on July 23rd, 2008 at 1:30 PM, he plead guilty to all four charges brought against him as part of a plea agreement. For all you law non-majors, a plea agreement usually means no death penalty.

On September 16, 2008 Johnson County District Judge Peter V. Ruddick sentenced Hall to life in prison without parole for the kidnapping, rape and murder.
