We've known Casey since he was in Junior High. My son became very good friends with him for a very long time. As a mother, it was very difficult to know that my son who as an adult, would hang out with Casey. I had to pick up my son in the early hours one morning in the Summer of 2010. When I found my son, he was out in the middle of nowhere, barefoot, cuts, scrapes and scratches all over him. He revealed to me that he had been picked up by Casey the night before and before he knew it, Casey stepped on the gas and took off because he saw a cop. We don't know if the cop ever noticed him but in Casey's paranoia, he kept driving at a very high rate of speed. My son begged him to stop but he wouldn't. He ended up in some remote farm area on dirt roads, skidding and sliding everywhere. Eventually, Casey flipped the car. My son had to squeeze out of the car while getting sliced up by the glass. He couldn't fit his shoes though the now smashed to a small opening that was the passenger window. He fought with Casey and ended up walking away from him. He walked for hours in the corn stalks, gravel roads, etc. in the complete dark while trying to get a signal to call me. We are all so grateful that it wasn't him who ended up dead. It could've easily have been my son who ended up dead. My son learned of Casey's addiction to crystal meth and realized he had to distance himself from his longtime friend. We are sad that Casey never turned himself around. Now there are 2 men who are dead. Whether they were involved initially or not, it's still a tragedy that should never have happened. Casey has been in and out of jail so many times before. But like so many times before, all Casey had to do was give the police information on other crimes and the names of the criminals, and that got him a reduced time or no time at all. It's a shame. Shame on the police, shame on the district attorney who allowed that kind of dealing and shame on the courts who allowed it. He should have been jailed for a long time many years before. He may have been able to kick his addiction if he had done enough time. Our prayers go out to the families of the 2 men who died. Thankfully no one else will be at risk of Casey's drug induced high speed chases. As I understand it, he has been in many but managed to elude the police. It's very common for meth users to find themselves in high speed police chases. And most of us thought it was just people wanting their 15 minutes of fame. Nope... Just more and more meth users out there.
